Photographer Jamie Beck and motion graphics artist Kevin Burg may have finally found a way to elevate the animated GIF to a level approaching fine art, with their “cinemagraphs” — elegant, subtly animated creations that are “something more than a photo but less than a video.


Working in the web industry myself these images truly gave life back into a dying format. The way that they have captured simplistic movement in each image makes it believeable that every image has the possibility to have some kind of movement.  This it an astonishing representation of thinking well outside the box to create a creative outcome that challenges the viewer to guess what part moves in each image.
